Almost .....Finished Painting

This is the piece i started yesterday. Pretty pleased with how it's turned out very over-the-top ornate like the victorian decorative style.

The original picture i used is a victorian 'ghost' picture . These were portraits of children with their mothers under a veil behind them like a ghostly presence. All the rage at one point apparently...I also have a victorian death portrait in the bottom right, couldn't resist making it seem more like  a story board/ comic strip.

It was ridiculously cold when i was painting today so i had to hug my rather attractive sheep hot water bottle while working!
And here's a picture of Meg...Just because.

Continuation of painting set

This is the beginnings of the first painting in the second half of my exhibition work. After using dolls in the first half , i am using the 'ghost' and 'death' portraits of the victorian era for the second half.
I believe this series of paintings will capture the feeling of crystallised youth i want in this work and provide the innocent morbidity i enjoy expressing within.

Also today i was painting backgrounds for illustration plates for Red Riding Hoods Womb. I had a seizure while doing so and ended up with a perfect handprint on the side of my face. I felt like crap for the rest of the day but had to take a photo as it looked pretty awesome!

Lino Cuts

This month i've been experimenting with lino cuts and have FINALLY worked out what i'm doing with my 'Red Riding hood's womb' story. I'm planning on making a large book art piece combining it with 4 other fairytales i've written (or that are to be written) using lot of different materials and processes to create the desired look of a book handed down and added to through generations.

Here's some of my recent experiments:
