It's been a while....

This year has been unbelievably up and down.
 I am now an 'unemployed writer and artist' due to an existing condition getting much worse and pain that stops me from doing any artwork that requires my hands. Then I get the odd days where I feel ok enough to do things.
 Today was one of those awesome days!
I am due to do an exhibition in April, it was supposed to be a concept exhibition using one of my stories as inspiration. I have decided to now centre it around my victorian stylistic paintings and call it 'doll house' (gallery permitting).

ONE DAY TO GO!

Pretty much been on my ipod all week this week, it comforts me on the way to my minimum wager job!
Events like tomorrow make me realise why i'm not a career girl though...I'm an arteest dahling!

One day to go till the Bristol International Comics and Small Press Expo (Thats too long a title) .

Have my backpack packed ,comics bagged up and priced. 

Tickets will be available on the door.

Anne Sexton - Anna who was mad

I've been writing some really really fucked up stuff lately. I think it's thanks to too much Burroughs and Anne Sexton. This poem is strangely horribly fascinating to me. Anna Who Was Mad

Anna who was mad, I have a knife in my armpit. When I stand on tiptoe I tap out messages. Am I some sort of infection? Did I make you go insane? Did I make the sounds go sour? Did I tell you to climb out the window? Forgive. Forgive. Say not I did. Say not. Say. Speak Mary-words into our pillow. Take me the gangling twelve-year-old into your sunken lap. Whisper like a buttercup. Eat me. Eat me up like cream pudding. Take me in. Take me. Take. Give me a report on the condition of my soul. Give me a complete statement of my actions. Hand me a jack-in-the-pulpit and let me listen in. Put me in the stirrups and bring a tour group through. Number my sins on the grocery list and let me buy. Did I make you go insane? Did I turn up your earphone and let a siren drive through? Did I open the door for the mustached psychiatrist who dragged you out like a gold cart? Did I make you go insane? From the grave write me, Anna! You are nothing but ashes but nevertheless pick up the Parker Pen I gave you. Write me. Write.

Buy your tickets, I'm only exhibiting on Sunday but the whole weekend looks set to be pretty damn awesome.
There's loads of amazing artists and writers there this year but I'm personally looking forward to meeting fellow small pressers and doing some swapping like last year.

THEDA THREE ......DONE!

Spent today strapped to a typewriter (not in a Misery way) and have finished all of Theda issue three Huzzah. 

Only a week till Bristol Expo EEEK!

All the inking is finished, got to type all the pages out though, which takes ages ...and the Bristol Expo is  in two weeks.

As well as my own stuff i want to use this blog to geek out to comics i love and writers/artists i think are incredible.

Her Beautiful cover for the Goon/Criminal Macabre :When freaks collide has just made me ping a bit.

She's awesome, Steve Niles is awesome ,Cal Macdonald is Awesome, the Goon is Awesome in summery this book is going to be pretty fucking Awesome.
It's out in July, will have to remember and buy this beauty.

New blog and progress on the third issue of Theda Bara's Babies

Welcome to my new blog, i hope you find it as soft and warm as my old one .
The Bristol international Comics and Zine fair is looming its way towards me and i am still to get anything to the printers. Never fear i am going to get this third issue done in time for May, if it means no sleep and a newly found crack habit...i will get it done.
So here's the work in progress ,typical me holding it up to photobooth as i can't be bothered to scan after a days inking!

You can also admire my parents conservatory and the many Green Men that live in it.

So for the third issue i have decided on a much brighter colour pallet. This is more to symbolise the madness of the Theda character than anything, trying to make it look alot more creepy trippy this time as opposed to Victorian story book. 

Any way the inking is going well soon i will be onto typing then to the printers she shall go.
